As part of Mashreq Gold’s anniversary, the bank is implementing a dedicated corporate social responsibility program by joining Emirates Environmental Groups’ (EEG) initiative to plant one million trees. Commenting on the partnership Asghar stated; “We are pleased to be taking part in this initiative as it is based on our ethos of providing long term investments to our customers and the wider community. We believe in enriching lives and would like to extend this promise to those around us.”
As part of Mashreq Gold’s anniversary celebrations 60 trees will be planted at Al Noor centre. The one million tree initiative is part of a wider EEG program to plant one million trees throughout the UAE as they provide raw materials, food, medicine, shelter and shade to the UAE’s inhabitants, in addition to producing oxygen and helping combat global warming by absorbing CO2.
Mrs. Al Marashi, spoke on the occasion and emphasized "Rapid urbanization and pollution has affected the desert ecosystem and the plants and animals that live in it. There are more buildings, more roads, more people and more cars. This sudden influx is affecting every one. It is said to be the cause behind the lack of interest, focus and freshness in students and professionals alike. In our world, where rapid urbanization and pollution has affected the desert ecosystem, these tree plantations are decisive steps to combat climate change and desertification and to ensure the well being of UAE's environment".
