62 new UAE Nationals Joins Mashreq

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 12 April 2009 – H. E. Abdul-Aziz Al Ghurair, CEO of Mashreq, gave the graduation certificates to 60 UAE national that will be employed in Mashreq after completing Mawarid Al Mashreq Training Programme that lasted for three months.
Al Ghurair also addressed the 62 UAE nationals taking part in ‘Al Mawarid Programme’, Mashreq’s unique training and recruitment initiative targeting nationals. The course included training on Customer Service, IT, Banking Operations and Business English.
The three-month programme held at the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Services (EIBFS) in Sharjah is designed to train and recruit high school graduates. Mawarid Al Mashreq programme mainly prepares UAE Nationals to enter the banking industry, providing them with the skills and knowledge required to become leaders within their areas of expertise.
“Young nationals are the future of this country as well as the future of UAE banking sector’,” said Al Ghurair. “Since its inception, Mashreq has always promoted the practice of recruiting, training and developing Nationals based on a clear vision to help shape the leaders of tomorrow. With almost 37 per cent of its workforce being locals, the bank is one of the largest employers of nationals in the UAE banking sector and the private sector as a whole.”
“2009 will be a challenging year and we need to equip ourselves to face these challenges. We are monitoring the global as well as the local economy and revaluate our growth and expansion plans to ensure that we are aligned to the current and prevailing market conditions”, added Abdulaziz Al Ghurair. “The need for the right training and finding the right talents is now more important than ever. This is where the role of EIBFS comes in to provide the high level of training and development for UAE bankers”.
Abdulaziz Al Ghurair addressed Mawarid Al Mashreq students on various topics, provided strategic counsel and focused on the importance of the employment of UAE nationals in the private and public sectors. Mashreq’s CEO also shared his vision of the future as well as his thoughts about the current international financial crises.
From her side, Maryam Al Ali – Localization Manager in Mashreq said: “We are very proud of our graduates today after successfully completing this long training programme. However, it is not over yet for them. They will go into Mashreq Internal Certification Programme for a month which includes training on Anti Money Laundry, Fundamentals of banking, Ethical Selling Skills and Retail Banking Products”.
